Screenplay Structure Course
What is screenplay structure?
Screenplay structure is the breakdown of action, called story beats, told in an organic order to stimulate an emotional response. Structure is what we lay people call storytelling.
Understanding structure helps you find loopholes in your story and fix them during the revisions process. Learning how story mechanisms function, help you understand what we call in Hollywood - the note within the note - because you know why something isn't working and the effect it has on the rest of the story.
TPP’s Screenplay Structure course takes your idea for a feature or television pilot or spec and builds it from the ground up through:
- Building 3-dimensional characters
- Using S.M.A.R.T Goals to set attainable internal + external goals
- Creating natural complications that heighten the takes
- Mapping out the large building blocks of your story into a beat sheet
This is the pre-work to writing your screenplay.
