Creating professional pitch materials is key. As always, we must consider the first impression. This begins with writing in clear sentences, laying out information in a digestible format, and ensuring that your materials match the story being told in the script.

PRACTICE YOUR PITCH

Pitching is a requirement as a professional writer, but we aren’t all great public speakers. Some of us are also very introverted. So how can we sit in front of an executive and sell our screenplays?

Actors always get a dress rehearsal. And in some ways, pitching is acting. You get an opportunity to put your storytelling chops on display, and sometimes that means creating an alter ego that represents your story's tone and world. Like Beyonce turning into Sasha Fierce, screenwriters must do what it takes in the room to sell their stories. ​

Your personal Story Expert is here to help you become confident with your 15-20 minute oral pitch.  Our process is to:
  • Make sure you know your story through and through
  • Organize your thoughts so that your pitch not only sells your story but tells a story
  • Put you in a position of power in the room making you feel safe to share your story
  • Make the pitch more conversational than a presentation
